Why does my reed diffuser not smell?

You bought a stick diffuser to scent your home, but it's been a few days and you feel like it doesn’t smell a thing.

Why does your reed diffuser no longer smell?

There are several reasons why your reed diffuser is no longer diffusing, and the solution is in your sticks.

1- You got used to the smell

It is true that after several weeks your nose will have adapted to this new smell. It is like your perfume, at some point you don't smell it anymore, yet the people around you can. In this case, test it with a friend or someone outside your home and ask them if they smell your perfume.

If the answer is yes, then everything is good, your diffuser is working perfectly fine, you just got used to the smell.

2- The size of your reed diffuser is not suitable for the room you want to perfume.

It is important to choose the size of your diffuser according to the size of the room you want to perfume. If you take a diffuser that is too small then you will not get the best result from your diffuser and you will not be able to smell the fragrance you have chosen enough.

On the other hand, if your diffuser is too big for the room, you will have the opposite effect, it will diffuse the scent too intensely and you will not get the desired ambiance.

So choose the size of the reed diffuser according to the room you want to perfume to have a perfect result. Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations if you have any hesitation.

3- Not enough sticks

What makes the intensity of the scent is the number of sticks you will put in your diffuser.

It is generally recommended to start with 3 sticks and wait 2 days to see if the intensity of the scent is right for you. If it is not sufficient, then you can add more sticks to achieve the desired intensity.

4- Your sticks are too soaked

If you have had your sticks for a while, they may be too full of liquid and so in this case they will diffuse less, or even no scent. We can compare this with a sponge. It absorbs water well but if there is too much water to absorb it will no longer work, you must rinse it first.

For sticks, it's the same principle. If they have absorbed too much liquid (after several months of use) they will no longer be able to diffuse. In this case, they must be changed and replaced with new ones and the magic of the diffusion will be set again for several months.

5- Dust is the enemy of the stick

If dust settles on the sticks, it will gradually block the diffusion of the perfume. In this case, it is necessary to replace the sticks that are too dusty to be able, again, to have a diffusion of the perfume.

6- Flip before changing

Finally, last tip, before changing your sticks, you can also flip them every 2 weeks. This will relaunch the diffusion of the perfume.

Normally, if you follow all of these tips, your sticks will never let you down again and over the months will diffuse a subtle and refined scent into your home that will surprise and delight more than one.

Remember, as a rule of thumb, it is time to change your sticks is when you’ve run out of liquid in your diffuser.
